Principles

Learning For Life Programs intentionally seek to bring about positive and lasting change based on the following principles:

Relationships

We believe positive relationships are essential for a young person’s development so that healthy attitudes and outlooks can be formed.  Therefore, Learning for Life provides and promotes healthy encouraging relationships to help young people address their difficulties and overcome despair.

Identity

We believe as young people understand their own uniqueness, they will value themselves, improve their self-image and build their self-esteem.  Consequently, Learning for Life provides programs that help young people discover their identity and value.

Purpose

We believe as young people understand their abilities and uniqueness, they can contribute to others in new and meaningful ways, ultimately resulting in lasting purpose for life.  Therefore, Learning for Life equips young people for employment and provides opportunities to make a positive difference to others.

Individual Responsibility

We believe positive long-term change can only occur for young people when they truly desire it for themselves and when they take responsibility for their life and actions.  Therefore, Learning for Life programs promote ownership and accountability for young people through planning, participation, and reflection of one’s actions.

Community Responsibility

We believe communities need to be actively involved with young people in need through investment in their well being.  As a result, Learning for Life pursues a wide range of partnerships in the community that includes churches, companies, foundations, government agencies, and community organisations.

God

We believe God creates life and gives each individual value and meaning.  We also believe God can restore and heal broken individuals and communities.  These beliefs are based on the teachings and work of Jesus Christ.

Cross-culture

We believe that every individual and culture has a level of brokenness and a need for healing.  Learning for Life seeks to understand and respect each culture we serve in order that individuals and cultures may heal and grow.

Provision

We believe helping those in need is at the centre of God’s purpose so he will provide everything to accomplish that purpose.  We believe our role is obedience.
