About Us
Life Support Ministries is a Christian-based organisation providing care and support for young people in need. We work primarily with young offenders at Rangeview Remand Centre and Banksia Hill Detention Centre through an agreement with the Department of Corrective Services. As a registered charity with the Australian Taxation Office, we are funded by private gifts, support from churches, and a minor fee from the Government.
A significant component of the healing process for young offenders is community involvement and participation. Learning for Life programs seek to build appropriate bridges between mainstream society and those trapped by institutionalism and repeated offending. Today, over 400 people contribute to the Learning for Life Program at detention centres with approximately twenty involved on a weekly basis. As a consequence, Life Support Ministries is the largest voluntary support to Corrective Services in Western Australia.
Mission
Our mission is to help young people at risk, particularly those in detention, overcome hopelessness by engaging, encouraging, and equipping them for life.
Vision
Our vision is to see young people at risk, particularly those in detention, value themselves, value their communities, and realise a successful vocation.
